1. What is Teacherspace Voice?
Teacherspace Voice is a tool that uses AI to help teachers reflect on and improve their teaching. By analyzing audio recordings, Teacherspace Voice provides feedback on what the teacher does well. It also delivers suggestions for the teacher’s next lesson and effective ways to check students' understanding, helping teachers save time in their planning.
2. Who can access Teacherspace Voice?
We are launching Teacherspace Voice as a closed beta, initially offering access to our existing customers and partners. If you or your school are interested in accessing Teacherspace Voice, you can contact Teacherspace co-founder Jesper Bergmann at [email protected].
3. How does Teacherspace Voice work?
Teacherspace Voice processes recordings in three steps:
It cleans the audio to remove background noise and improve quality.
It transcribes spoken words into text using secure speech recognition.
It generates specific, strength-based feedback and suggestions for the next lesson.
4. What kind of feedback does Teacherspace Voice provide?
Feedback includes three specific teaching strengths (with time markers in the recording) as well as tailored reflection questions and suggestions for the next lesson. The strengths are based on TEACH, developed by the World Bank.
The questions and lesson suggestions have been developed in collaboration with teachers to save time and provide practical, concrete advice for lesson planning.
5. Who can see the feedback generated by Teacherspace Voice?
Only the person who recorded the lesson can see the AI-generated feedback from Teacherspace Voice. Sharing is entirely optional and controlled by the user.
If you share feedback with a mentor or colleague, you can manage or revoke their access at any time. For more details, see how to share videos.
6. How can users interact with feedback through Teacherspace Chat?
Teacherspace Chat is a secure, school-specific chatbot built into Teacherspace Voice. In Teacherspace Chat, you can ask questions about the feedback you receive. For example, you can ask why a particular strength was highlighted or work further with the suggestions for the next lesson. It is designed to make feedback more understandable and practical for your teaching.
7. How does Teacherspace Voice support collaboration between teachers and mentors?
Teacherspace Voice makes collaboration easier by providing detailed, time-coded feedback that can be shared with mentors or colleagues. Mentors can focus on expanding and supplementing the feedback rather than starting from scratch, allowing for deeper and more meaningful discussions that save time and support teacher development.
8. What if the feedback is incorrect or I don’t find it useful?
Teacherspace Voice is in beta, so occasional inaccuracies are possible. All feedback is clearly labeled as AI-generated, and we encourage users to apply their professional judgment. Think of the feedback as a starting point or an additional perspective, not a definitive answer. You can also easily delete comments on your video that were generated by Teacherspace Voice.
9. Is Teacherspace Voice secure and GDPR-compliant?
Yes. Teacherspace Voice follows strict GDPR guidelines to ensure that your recordings and feedback are processed and stored securely.
10. What framework does Teacherspace Voice use to deliver feedback?
Teacherspace Voice uses the TEACH framework, which we have found to be highly effective. TEACH is an open-source, research-based methodology for observing and improving teaching practices. In the future, we expect it will also be possible for teachers to specify their preferences for how they receive feedback.
11. How can Teacherspace Voice save time for teachers and mentors?
Teacherspace Voice automates the initial observation and feedback process, providing clear insights that teachers can act on immediately. Mentors save time by focusing on refining feedback instead of reviewing entire lessons manually.
For example, it has typically taken a mentor 45-60 minutes to watch and provide detailed feedback on 15 minutes of teaching.
12. What happens to my data when I use Teacherspace Voice?
Your recordings and feedback are private and under your control. Your recordings are only shared if you choose to share them; otherwise, the feedback is only accessible to you. You can delete recordings and feedback at any time, ensuring that you always retain full ownership of your data.
13. How does Teacherspace Voice support teacher growth?
By offering time-coded strengths and time-saving lesson preparation suggestions, Teacherspace Voice helps teachers build confidence, improve their teaching practices, and develop in a safe and supportive way.
